Anakin Skywalker: A Jedi's Journal
Published in Hardcover by LucasBooks (22 April, 2002)
Authors: Random House, Scott Ciencin, and Jeff Albrecht
Average review score:

This is a delightfully COOL journal.
I saw it, and I knew that I just HAD to get it. It has very nice pictures inside, and enough room to write my own personal journal. So far I'm already half way through writing in it. The hard cover protects the things inside, and I like that also. The things they write for Anakin's thoughts are interresting too. It's a very nice journal, and if you like Star Wars, you'll LOVE this.

Anatomy: Palpation and Surface Markings
Published in Paperback by Butterworth-Heinemann (15 May, 2001)
Authors: Scott A. Brumby, Lucy S. Chipchase, Creswell, and Derek Field
Average review score:

Field Brings Anatomy to Life
I found this book in the library and kept renewing over, finally deciding to purchase it. I learned Gross Anatomy in medical school this year, but found it difficult to translate what I saw in dissections back to the live person. This book does a beautiful job explaining relationships in surface anatomy with color photos and hand drawings. It includes relationships with arteries, nerves and joints. Most beneficual are the explanations of how to actually palpate the structures in physical exam. This is an excellent resource for medical students.

Angel of Mercy (Shannon Saga, 3)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (June, 2002)
Authors: Tracie Peterson and James Scott Bell
Average review score:

Really Interesting!!!
I've found this whole saga interesting. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole lawyer backdrop of the book was really neat, because I normally don't hear about law.

Kit has vowed to never take a case a less she knows for sure they're innocent, but with her new case she isn't so sure. Her new case is one of her old rivals who comes to her when he is accused of murder, he insists that she is the only one that can represent him. The evidence is stacked against her client though. Will she go against what she has vowed to never do and keep the case? Will the forces of the city's high power stack against her and the city itself?

Kit also struggles with the love she still has for Ted Fox. She wonders where he is and what has happened to him. Also her aunt has had enough of Kit being a scandal to her and barely talks to her. Kit worries about her aunt because she goes to someone to read her palm and gives him tons of money for an institute. Will her aunt ever come to believe in Christ? Will Kit ever see Ted again?

Angles: And Other Stories
Published in Audio Cassette by Audio Literature (March, 2002)
Authors: Orson Scott Card, Theodore Bikel, Robert Forster, Robert Foxworth, and Scott Brick
Average review score:

Awesome Collection!
This collection contains one Orson Scott Card story that you can't get anywhere else: Angles. The short story Angles is interesting enough by itself without the added bonuses of Orson himself reading Homeless in Hell, and many other readings by famous authors and members of Card's family. The story angles has really interesting and believable ideas about memory, what is involved and what some possibilities are. If you love OSC, this collection is a must get!

Angling Baja: One Man's Fly Fishing Journey Through the Surf
Published in Paperback by Frank Amato Pubns (November, 1996)
Author: Scott Sadil
Average review score:

Fly fishing with Brains, Wit, Charm and Soul.
Last week I bought a few books from Amazon and needed to spend a few dollars more to get free shipping. I did a quick search and came up with this book, Angling Baja, and bought it because it was about saltwater fly-fishing and because it was cheap.
I got the book in the mail yesterday and started reading snippets of it, and immediately, I was hooked.
Tonight I turned off the TV and spent the past three hours or so reading this little marvel. And a real gem it is too. Over the years I have occasionally found some damn fine writing that centered on sports, usually on boxing or fishing, or occasionally even on baseball. This book, this writer, Scott Sadil, is totally impressive.
I am a writer myself ( Birthday Boy, Happy Hour, Allergy-Free Gardening, Safe Sex in the Garden ) and like Sadil I've had a life of ups and plenty of downs, and like him I appreciate a good story, a full glass of whiskey, a nice fly rod, surfing, any kind of fish caught on a fly, and all sorts of other things...but read his book for that.
As soon as I finished reading tonight I decided I would get right on the computer and write a review of it. I'm hoping to write one that will compel you who happens to read this, to order this book. I used to believe that a truly fine writer would automatically become successful as soon as he (or she) was published...but that isn't true at all. Genius isn't always recognized by any means, and I speak of Sadil's writing here, not mine. (I'm recognized now, just not a genius I'm afraid). I Googled Scott Sadil, hoping to come up with thousands of hits but found a mere 312 references to him. I was hoping too, to discover that he'd published a novel, and was disappointed to see that he hadn't, yet.
I did see that Sadil does have a second, newer book, Cast from the Edge: Tales of an Uncommon Fly Fisher. I'm going to buy that book too, and am almost certain that it will be terrific. But I really do want to see a novel from this writer. He has a writer's eye for things, a writer's ear that picks up the best tidbits of dialog, he has that novelist's sense of where the meat is, and he's got plenty of heart. Unless I miss my mark, expect a superb novel (maybe several?) from this fellow some day, and hopefully sooner rather than later.
Okay, in case you just like to fish and don't give a hoot about really great writing, there are many very good surf-fishing tips here. I underlined a lot of pages and will be using them too. Scott Sadil takes his fishing seriously and has done plenty of it. For those of you, like me, who love fishing, nature, and good writing, 'come on, get a copy of this book and read it! I swear I don't know Scott Sadil and no one asked me to write this review. But his writing is that good, uncommonly so, and he deserves a far wider audience. ... this book is a steal!

Animal Planet
Published in Paperback by Picador (November, 1996)
Author: Scott Bradfield
Average review score:

A bitter examination of corprate philosophy and revolution.
"Animal Planet" is a fierce and brilliant work of satire. It's singular aim seems to be the ultimate revelation of absurdity of corporate America. More than this, however, the book examines the true nature of revolution. It tears apart the myths of romance and glory that Americans believe about revolutionaries. The great revolutionaries of this book are not larger than life. They do not lead glorious armies. They resist when it is neccissary and run when it is not. They live underground, scared of shadows and afraid for their lives. Most of their revolution is conducted alone and out of contact as they run across Antarctica. They are heroes by chance. They are icons not because of who they are, but because of what they appear to be. Glory is a lie. They know this to be true. In this their greatness lies.

Antiquary
Published in Hardcover by J M Dent & Sons Ltd (June, 1966)
Author: Scott
Average review score:

A very funny novel, beautifully presented at last
Before OUP World's Classics published this handsome, attractive new edition, you could only get this novel in paperback through Penguin. The Penguin edition, sadly, gives the book in a tinkered-with text that Scott never saw, and supplies it with a baffling and unhelpful introduction by some academic called Punter that he wouldn't have understood a word of. This was a crying shame, as The Antiquary is Scott's funniest, most mature book and amply deserves the loving treatment OUP have now given it. The introduction and notes to this new amazingly inexpensive paperback are clear, intelligent & actually intended to help someone enjoy a very subtle and profound piece of storytelling - well done to this N Watson (a good Scots name, promisingly!). The book itself, as I say, is hilarious and surprisingly moving, as good on personal emotion and behaviour as Austen but with the gift for big-scale action and comedy of Dickens or Thackeray -- the bit with the fight with the seal just goes on getting funnier.

A wonderful read
Anyone who lives here in the shadows of Superstition Mountain knows of the historic Apache Trail. Kollenborns book is a wonderful trip back in time to show us the beginnings of the trail as well as points of interest along the route. Apocalypse: Moses Before the Exodus

Provocative yet informative
This book is a compelling mix of history and thought. I would recommend this book to anyone that believes in religion and wished to know more. I have been reading books about this subject for 10 years and this book is the first book that changed my mind on a subject that is more than 3000 years old. Highly recommended. END
